I paid more for mine, as well. I'm not sure if these are holding their value, but I sure do like having one.

$1800.00 was the going rate for them when I got mine about four years ago. I've wondered if the PC based diagnostics might not have diminished its value. This spring I had to build a new battery for the unit, but that was easy enough and it now works great.
