Do a search and you'll find other alternatives. I went to Autozone and got the cheaper battery. It works fine.

cold crank amp is the important spec to compare the different batteries.

That sounds like a lot of money. Check around - you should be able to get one for around $100. I can get them for that price - even in Canada.

$100 is about right. Check around a bit more and save some bucks...

Cold cranking amps and warranty are what I always go with. I think you can find a better choice at AutoZone if you have one.

I got a walmart battery for around $80, it's been trouble free for more than 3 years.

My Porsche tech swears by Interstate. I once had an Autozone battery in my 968 that lasted about a week.

The techs at a dealer I visit once in a while swear by Interstate batteries too. In fact the dealership went away from using the IIRC Moll battery and now use Interstate exclusively.

Word up though: the best Interstate batteries I hear -- from the techs -- are made in Spain. I checked the battery in my car and didn't see any sticker indicating where the battery was made. I haven't had a chance to ask where the made in Spain sticker is so it may be on the side or end of the battery. I didn't bother to remove the battery to see if I could find the sticker. The battery is working just fine and I'm not going to worry about it until it doesn't.

But if you have a chance to look over the battery before you buy it and have it installed...

Sincerely,

Macster.

I have an Interstate in the Turbo and an AutoZone batter in the Boxster.

You should be able to buy an Interstate (MTP-91) for closer to $120. I've seen them at Costco for <$90. Not sure if this is your size. Check.

I never liked the Interstates and always had bad luck with them. I bought a Bosch at Pep Boys for less than $100 for my wife's 996 last year, seems to be good so far.

My $0.02

+1 on Logray's suggestion. Walmart (at least locally) lists as the proper replacement an H6 size, which has 770 CCA and fits the third bolt hole in & performs identically to the monster sized one I replaced.
